In two weeks the presentation Made by Google will take place, during which the company from Mountain View will officially introduce its new line of Pixel 7 smartphones. I remind you, we saw the appearance of the devices back in the spring – during the Google I/O 2022 conference. But the technical specifications of the gadgets are still kept secret, so we have to learn about them thanks to various sources of information.
In particular, the results of the -pixel 7 Pro benchmark appeared online, which also revealed some characteristics of the Tensor G2 chipset. This is already the second generation of the processor that Google created together with Samsung. The first Google Tensor, which debuted in the Pixel 6/6 Pro smartphones, got off to a good start, but the chipset still felt a bit behind the main competition. It is all the more interesting to see if the situation with Tensor G2 will change.
If the available information is to be believed, the Tensor G2 uses the same set of cores as in the first generation of the chip: two Cortex-X1 cores, two Cortex-A76 cores, and four Cortex-A55 cores. However , the operating frequency of high-performance cores will increase slightly: by 100 MHz for Cortex-A76 (up to 2 . 35 GHz) and by 50 MHz for Cortex-X1 (up to 2 . 85 GHz). It is also noted that the Tensor G2 will be built on a 4 nm process, which together will give an approximately 10% increase in power compared to its predecessor.

The particular numbers are not impressive yet, but it is no less important for Google to improve the energy efficiency of the chipset and the operation of the heat dissipation system. Which, in turn, will have a positive effect on the operation associated with devices as a whole. In addition , a significant GPU upgrade is expected – the Mali-G78 video accelerator will be replaced by the Mali-G710. This should give a 20% increase in power, a twenty percent improvement in energy effectiveness, and a 35% improvement in the performance of machine learning technologies.
So , in general, you should not expect drastic changes in the Pixel 7/7 Professional smartphones from the point of view of pure power. You can count on a little more autonomy of the products and, in general, their better optimization and more stable procedure.
