OPPO on Friday, August 6, officially launched its OPPO Reno 6 line of mid-range phones. Two variants have been released: the OPPO Reno6 Z 5G for P19,999 and the OPPO Reno6 5G for P26,999.
The Reno6 phones are both 5G-capable and come with the same triple camera set-up (64MP main + 8MP ultra-wide + 2MP macro) and 32MP front camera.
The key differences involve the phones’ processors, battery fast-charging rate, and some camera features. The more expensive Reno6 5G has the newer, faster, and more power efficient 6-nanometer Mediatek Dimensity 900 chipset, announced in May 2021. The Reno6 Z 5G has the 7-nanometer Mediatek 800U, announced back in August 2020.
The Reno6 5G charges faster with its 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast-charging that OPPO says fills up the phone’s 4,300 mAh battery from 0 to 100% in 28 minutes. The claimed charging rate for the Reno 6 Z 5G’s 4,310 mAh battery is 52 minutes, from 0 to 100%, using 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0.
For camera features, the Bokeh Flare Portrait Video, an option which gives videos a “cinematic” bokeh effect, and Portrait Beautification for video are exclusive to the Reno6 5G.
The Reno6 5G also has a more iPhone 12-look with its flat aluminum frame, while the Reno6 Z 5G has a more curved body. Both have 6.4-inch full HD displays but the Reno6 5G has the smoother 90Hz screen over the Z 5G’s 60Hz one.

The OPPO Reno6 Z 5G is available for pre-order from August 7 to 13 and arrives on August 14. The OPPO Reno6 5G is available for pre-order from August 7 to 27, and arrives on August 28.
OPPO is also bundling a Q11 smartwatch for free for in-store purchases of the Reno6 Z 5G, while buyers of the Reno6 5G get OPPO Enco Buds wireless earphones.
Purchases on Lazada and Shopee on August 14 for the Reno6 Z 5G, and August 28 for the Reno6 5G will come with a set of Plextone G25 earphones and a Q11 smartwatch. – Rappler.com
